Bret Staudt Willet, PhD

Dr. Bret Staudt Willet is an assistant professor of instructional systems and learning technologies at FSU, and the Educational Research Catalyst for the Innovation Hub. His research investigates self-directed learning, examining how individuals figure things out on their own using the internet, AI, and exploration in games. He studies what happens after learners complete formal instruction and training.

Lichun Li, PhD

Dr. Li specializes in AI, game theory, and quantum computing. Her research, supported by the NSF, the Air Force, and the NSA, focuses on applying AI and quantum computing to solve complex dynamic games. She is an NSF CAREER Award recipient and coached the 2022 CyberPatriot champions in Florida.

Russell Almond, PhD

Dr. Russell Almond is a statistician specializing in applying Bayesian networks and Partially Observed Markov Decision Processes to educational measurement. His work focuses on scoring game and simulation-based assessments. The author of two books on the topic, he also developed the “Peanut” system for building and scoring assessments with Bayesian networks.
