Staff Tip #1 | Using AI to Recap the Workday
I use the prompt 'recap my day from emails, chats, files, and scheduled meetings' in the middle of my day, then again at the end of the day. That way I can review my daily actions, interactions, and activities.
Guidelines
The university is developing guidelines that will help staff navigate the use of AI technologies in the workplace. Using AI technologies responsibly includes taking action to protect the security and privacy of university data and intellectual property. Copilot for the Web is the recommended AI tool for FSU faculty, students, and staff because it offers critical data protections other large-language AI tools do not (FSU login required).
NOTE: If you participate in the Microsoft Copilot for M365 pilot, please be aware that all prompts are electronically discoverable and may be accessed in the event of a public records request or formal legal proceeding. Copilot for the Web does not store prompts, so they are neither electronically discoverable or searchable by Information Technology personnel or end users.
Staff Tip #2 | Using AI to Improve Writing
Because English is not my first language, I use AI to correct syntax errors in my written communications. I no longer waste precious time looking up grammar rules — which was not a productive use of my time!
Policies and Responsible Use
The university has been evaluating the impact of artificial intelligence on practices in teaching, assessing its effect on learning and student engagement, and developing draft policies for consideration by the Faculty Senate and Office of the Provost. In the meantime, be sure you know your responsibilities when it comes to protecting university information, including the security and privacy of student data and FSU intellectual property.

Staff Tip #3 | Using AI to Organize Tasks
I asked AI to give me highlights from meetings I was in this week, as well as any action items I was assigned. As long as transcripts were on, it did a good job of summarizing meeting content and follow-up tasks.
