Staff Tip #1 | Using AI to Recap the Workday

I use the prompt 'recap my day from emails, chats, files, and scheduled meetings' in the middle of my day, then again at the end of the day. That way I can review my daily actions, interactions, and activities.

Guidelines

The university is developing guidelines that will help staff navigate the use of AI technologies in the workplace. Using AI technologies responsibly includes taking action to protect the security and privacy of university data and intellectual property. The university provides several AI tools and technologies to support your work at FSU. These tools are subject to agreements between the university and vendors to ensure compliance with institutional policies and laws governing data privacy. Because they offer critical data protections other large-language AI tools do not, only AI tools approved through appropriate university channels are recommended for use by FSU faculty, students, and staff (FSU login required).

Staff Tip #2 | Using AI to Improve Writing

Because English is not my first language, I use AI to correct syntax errors in my written communications. I no longer waste precious time looking up grammar rules — which was not a productive use of my time!

Policies

The university has been evaluating the impact of artificial intelligence on practices in teaching, assessing its effect on learning and student engagement, and developing policies for consideration by the Faculty Senate and Office of the Provost. In the meantime, be sure you know your responsibilities when it comes to protecting the security and privacy of your personal data and intellectual property.

Staff Tip #3 | Using AI to Organize Tasks

I asked AI to give me highlights from meetings I was in this week, as well as any action items I was assigned. As long as transcripts were on, it did a good job of summarizing meeting content and follow-up tasks.
