FSU Presents at AI Summit in Orlando

Four Florida State University colleagues will join educators from across the nation to present at a conference on artificial intelligence in Orlando on February 17-19, 2025. Hosted by the University of Florida, the AI2 Summit: Artificial Intelligence and Academic Innovation will feature hands-on workshops and panel discussions to help prepare institutions to become AI-ready.

“We were thrilled to be invited to present at this important conference,” said Paul Marty, PhD, professor in the School of Information, College of Communication and Information, and associate vice provost for academic innovation. “More than 450 educators and administrators from universities across the country will be discussing how AI is reshaping higher education and prompting universities to rethink their academic practices.”

In their presentation on “How AI is Driving Innovation in Academia,” the FSU panel will explore the rise of AI and its potential benefits for faculty, students, and society at large. In addition to Marty, the panelists include:

  • Vanessa Dennen, PhD, Tyner Distinguished Professor of Education, Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems, College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences
  • Darren Brooks, PhD, MBA program director, assistant department chair, and senior lecturer, Department of Management, College of Business
  • Robert Fuselier, senior director, Office of Digital Learning and Academic Technologies

“Our presentation will examine the integration of AI into the classroom and educational practice,” explained Marty. “It will explore the need for instructional technology support for AI tools, the importance of preparing students for the future of work in the age of AI, and the role of AI in leveraging academic innovation across the university.”
